Hawkeye edges Cougar shooters in home opener
“Even though we came up short against Hawkeye,” Head Coach Anthony Sisneros said, “there were plenty of positives to take away from the event.”
Northeast Iowa Community College's (NICC) sports shooters hosted their first meet of the season on Sept. 27 against Hawkeye Community College. The Cougars shot well, with three shooters scoring above 90, but the RedTails totaled 13 shooters with a 90 or above, handing NICC a 480-453 loss.
"Even though we came up short against Hawkeye," Head Coach Anthony Sisneros said,
"there were plenty of positives to take away from the event."
Marshall Schiphoff (94) was the high Cougar on the day, but Alexis Elsbernd (93) and Ty Kenan (90) also recorded top scores for the team.
"We did not have the results we wanted," Elsbernd said, "but that's not something to hang our heads on. We just have to get out there next weekend and improve."
The remaining Cougar scores were: Colton Tollefsrud (89), Elizabeth Ward (87), Gunnar Thorson (80), Brendan Doty (77), Michael McCormick (74), Ethan Harms (73) and Ben H. (72).
"It is time to refocus and get ready for our next home competition against the Southeastern Blackhawks," Coach Sisneros said.
